LOCATION
Citrus County contains 682 square miles and is cintrally located ont he west coast of Florida, known as "Florida's Nature Coast".

Citrus County has a beautiful coastline on the gulf of Mexico. It is located 70 miles north of Tampa, 60 mile northwest of Orlando, 35 miles southwest of Ocala and 180 miles south of Tallahassee, the State Capital.

Citrus County is in a temperate climate. Temperatures renge form an everage in winter of 60.1 degrees to a summer average of 82.4 degrees. The average mean temperature is 70 degrees.

Average annual rainfall is 45.9 inches (30 years' average=54.68).

Average annual humidity: 1:00 a.m.=85%; 7:00 a.m.=88%; 1:00 p.m.=58%; 7:00 p.m.=71%.

Citrus County, located on the "Nature Coast", is strategically positioned near the geographical center of Florida. The county is bound on the north by the Withlacoochee River,on the east by the Wihlacoochee River and the Tsala Apopka chain of lakes, on the south by Hernando County and on the west by the Gulf of Mexico, into which flow the Homosassa and Crystal Rivers.

These bodies of water are used extensively for fishing, boating and other water sports. The west coast is noted for hundreds of creeks, islands, inlets, bays, and natural springs. The east coast is popular for its lakes and fishing.

The Withlacoochee River totals 45 miles of river front. The Lake Tsala Apopka chain of lakes is 22 miles long, covering 23,000 acres

Northern Citrus County is Bisected by the the Cross Florida Barge Canal, total land area 364,000 acres.
